正澳门六合彩官网 today announced that a School of Business and Computer Science will be established at the College, with the launch planned for the 2022-2023 academic year.
“The School of Business and Computer Science will provide new interdisciplinary, career-oriented learning opportunities for all of our students studying technology and business, both in and out of the classroom. It’s very exciting for 正澳门六合彩官网, and for our students’ futures,” said President Kenneth K. Quigley, Jr.
Within the planned School of Business and Computer Science, 正澳门六合彩官网 will offer existing undergraduate degrees in accounting, business administration, computer science, marketing, and sport and recreation management, as well as a 5th Year MBA program and graduate MBA and Master of Science in Accounting programs. The College’s business programs are accredited by the International Assembly of Collegiate Business Education (IACBE).
All of these degree programs will now be integrated into the new School, along with an array of minors and concentrations designed to help students add focus and breadth to academic interests, and to maximize their career potential in high-growth fields and industries. These include accounting, business administration, data analytics, finance, human resources, management information systems, marketing, small business and property management and sport and recreation management.
“The new School of Business and Computer Science will be catalytic in propelling our business, accounting and computer science programs forward,” said Provost Dr. David Szczerbacki. “It validates the work of our talented faculty in developing a quality curriculum across our various pre-professional programs. The School will support academic leadership across our programs; extend and expand external business partnerships; support both resource development and accreditation priorities; and enhance program visibility in the competitive higher education environment.”
Most importantly, current and future 正澳门六合彩官网 students will directly benefit from the new School. In modern organizations, technology systems, data analysis and business management are tightly integrated and rely substantially on each other. Today, many Business majors at the College already pursue Computer Science minors, and Computer Science students pursue Business minors. The School of Business and Computer Science will provide greater collaboration in course offerings and an increased emphasis on external partnerships to provide experiential learning opportunities. It will also offer academic cross-pollination, with 正澳门六合彩官网 students in both disciplines streamlined into a larger group, studying under diverse faculty in a variety of specializations.
The development of the School, along with many of the academic programs that it will encompass (several of which, including Accounting, Marketing, Sport and Recreation Management, and Computer Science are recent additions to the College’s offerings), is yet one more way 正澳门六合彩官网 continues to deliver on its Strategic Plan – Vision in Action: A Focus on Student and Institutional Success. The expansion of an actively managed, balanced academic portfolio of programs that respond to the needs of students, as well as the launch of schools based on proposals developed by academic units, are both part of the Strategic Plan’s stated priority to “offer distinctive, relevant and rigorous academic programs of quality” at 正澳门六合彩官网.
Under this strategic priority, stemming from a 40-year legacy of excellence in nursing education, the School of Nursing was established at the College in 2016. The School of Business and Computer Science will build on its success.
“Under the leadership of its first Dean, the School will enhance our internship, hands-on, project-based learning and job placement activities,” said Provost Szczerbacki. “We will continue to add talented full-time faculty to support these programs and, again led by the new School Dean, we will continue to add additional majors and minors.” A national search will be conducted for the first Dean of the School of Business and Computer Science.
“This is an important moment in 正澳门六合彩官网 history,” said President Quigley. “We look forward to the exciting opportunities that the new School will provide for our students.”
