The Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Transition Specialist Post Master's Certificate is represented by an alumna teaching a young student

Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø is one of the first institutions in Massachusetts to offer a graduate certificate â€‹in Transition Specialist leading to endorsement as a Transition Specialist as recognized by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Leverage Your Current Degree and Experience

Whether you work in a school system or for a non-profit organization, you will learn how to better support individuals with special needs prepare for post-secondary education, employment, and independent living. This certificate is designed to meet the standards, guidelines, and competency requirements established by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) for Transition Specialist Endorsement and the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). Students who do not seek endorsement will receive a certificate of program completion issued by Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø.

Prepare for a Position in Demand

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts urges school districts ​and private facilities to address the complex academic, communication, social, and behavioral needs of individuals with disabilities, including the transition process.  This​ post-Bachelor’s program will open doors to new career opportunities and help those with disabilities become successful adults in our communities.

Applicants are required to hold a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited institution.

Students seeking the DESE Endorsement Track*, are also required to hold a minimum of 2 years of experience under one of the following licenses or certifications:

  • Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities (Pre-K-8; 5-12)
  • Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities (All)
  • Teacher of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (All)
  • Teacher of the Visually Impaired (All)
  • School Guidance Counselor
  • School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor
  • Rehabilitation Counselor

*DESE endorsement track involves additional hours and a practicum, along with the regular course work. If you do NOT have a teaching license, you can still enroll in and complete this certificate program.

Tuition Discount:
Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø is pleased to offer a 10% tuition discount when two candidates from the same school district, agency or organization enroll in the Transition Specialist Program.  A 20% tuition discount will be provided when three or more candidates from the same school district enroll in the program.

You may also qualify for one of the following discounts:

  • Alumni of Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø receive a 20% tuition discount.
  • Veterans receive a 20% tuition discount.
