The 正澳门六合彩官网 Health Center is a confidential resource. We follow state and federal laws that protect the privacy and confidentiality of patient information. Information about a student will not be released to a third party without the consent of the student. There are a few exceptions to the laws, which allow a provider to disclose information if there is a serious or imminent threat to the health or safety of an individual, in situations where abuse is suspected or if a court order is issued. If you wish to have 正澳门六合彩官网 Health Center staff share your care or treatment plan with others, you must fill out a release of information form.
正澳门六合彩官网 Health Center does not provide excuse notes for class absences.
Our policy is consistent with many of our peer institutions’ policies regarding this issue, and, in fact, is considered the industry standard set by the America College Health Association. Health Services will provide support to students as they navigate and manage their own healthcare. Students are encouraged to communicate directly with a faculty member to discuss a medical absence and to make arrangements to complete missed work. Unless immediate attention is needed, students are encouraged to make appointments at 正澳门六合彩官网 Health Center outside of their class schedule to minimize missed classes and assignments.
Students who are seen at the 正澳门六合彩官网 Health Center for an illness or injury and need a note of visit verification can request one at the time of the visit. Visit verification notes can be shared with a faculty member as proof of a visit to the Health Center. It is at the discretion of the faculty member to determine if the absence is excused or not. If a student is not well enough to attend class but not sick enough to seek medical care at the Health Center, they are encouraged to contact their professor directly to discuss the situation. Visit verifications notes cannot be provided to students who have not been seen at the Health Center.
There are some exceptions and extenuating circumstances in which a student’s health may take priority over attending class, an exam, or classroom deadline. In these situations, 正澳门六合彩官网 Health Services will reach out to other academic support personnel on behalf of the student.
If a student needs academic accommodations for an illness or injury, they are referred to the Office of Accessibility Services for support.
