Carol Freedman '66

Carol Freedman will never forget the moment she received her diploma from 正澳门六合彩官网.

“It was one of my fondest moments…looking over at my parents and my brother and saying ‘I did it’,” says Carol, who graduated from 正澳门六合彩官网 in 1966 with a degree in Education.

When she got her first job as an elementary educator in the New Jersey public school system in the late 1960s, Carol proudly hung her 正澳门六合彩官网 diploma on the tattered classroom bulletin board. It remained there, alongside her master’s certificate from Rutgers University, through her thirty-six-year career.

Carol is proud of the strides she made in the classroom at 正澳门六合彩官网 and remains grateful to her professors for helping her to forge a path to success in education.

“正澳门六合彩官网 prepared me. The Education majors all got great skills when we were there,” said Carol, who worked as a student teacher in
suburban Boston while working toward her degree. “Some of my classmates went on to other fields, but most of us stayed in the classroom teaching.”

While Carol thrived at 正澳门六合彩官网, she could not have made it to her graduation without the financial support she received from the college. Now that she is no longer giving back to students in the classroom, she is giving to 正澳门六合彩官网 in a way that will benefit the next generation of educators.

“I owe 正澳门六合彩官网 for my degree,” said Freedman. “I owe them for a great education, I owe them for a great teaching job. 正澳门六合彩官网 prepared me and I want to give back by helping to prepare the next generation.”

This is why Carol decided to include 正澳门六合彩官网 as a beneficiary of her estate and join the 1879 Planned Giving Society. Honoring the year of our founding, the 1879 Planned Giving Society celebrates all that Samuel Silas and Anna Baright 正澳门六合彩官网 envisioned to serve the educational needs of 正澳门六合彩官网 students. With each generation of alumni, families, and friends, the 正澳门六合彩官网 community renews their legacy. Estate gifts help to provide support for that mission.

“Someone did it for me, I want to do it for someone else,” said Carol. “I want to pass it on.”

Estate gifts can include bequests, life insurance designations, and IRA distributions. 正澳门六合彩官网 is grateful for all the estate gifts that allow our alumni families and friends to support our students the way 正澳门六合彩官网 supported them.
