Students interested in a degree in Public Relations through the School of Business and Technology have a rich and diverse field to study. Nearly every industry is in need of Public Relations professionals including business, entertainment, government, sports, and much more! The Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Public Relations major prepares graduates in strategic planning, effective oral and written communication, leadership and conflict resolution, DEI issues, and social media management in a wide variety of for-profit and nonprofit settings. Through a variety of experiential learning opportunities, including hands-on internships with some of Greater Boston's top companies, graduates of the PR program are geared for professional success.

Careers in Public Relations deliver highly competitive financial and advancement opportunities. In fact, employment of public relations specialists is projected to grow 11 percent from 2020 to 2030, faster than the average growth for all other occupations.

Alexa Hinton '23 wasn't exactly sure what she wanted to do with her major when she came to Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø, due to the many options offered. After taking some classes and having the chance to explore those options, Alexa found that public relations best aligned with her goal to work in corporate communication or human resources after Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø.

Meet Nicole Bousquet ’21

In her public relations internship at Hollywood Agency, a nationally recognized PR and integrated communications firm based in Hingham, Mass., Nicole Bousquet ’21 got an inside look at agency life and decided it was her desired path after graduation. She now works as an Assistant Account Executive at Matter Communications, an award-winning PR firm in Boston.

Dr. Brenda Wrigley

Meet Dr. Brenda Wrigley

Dr. Brenda Wrigley leads the Public Relations program at the Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø School of Business and Technology. She earned her Ph.D. from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications, as well as a master’s degree in Public Relations from Newhouse and a Bachelor of Broadcast Journalism degree from the University of Missouri/Columbia. Prior to earning her terminal degree, she had a 21-year career in broadcast journalism, broadcast advertising sales and sales management, and corporate marketing communication management.
